She was variously captioned “Femme fatale”, “The redhead under the bed”, “The beauty who spied”, “Red menace”, and “The spy worthy of a Bond film”, as yet again the British newspaper industry showed that whilst a spy story is always interesting, a spy story with a photogenic woman involved is most definitely worthy of a front page splash.

What the British Media have shown with that, once again, is that any story is made infinitely better when there is:

  • a woman
  • that could maybe possibly be called attractive
  • even an ugly one will do because all unattractive women are pure evil

This probably ties in with the vacuous nature of the media these days, reporting mostly on Cheryl Cole and football and celebs and…probably other things sometimes just not right now ok it’s been a stressful day for the media.

Yes, I feel that it is about time to shut it all down and start again with The Guardian as the inspiration.
